After eight days of competition we can reflect on some unforgettable racing and a huge year for Portreath SLSC.
Our Masters set the pace with some staggering results to finish 6th at the National Champs. In age groups from 30-34 all the way up to 60+ our senior athletes enjoyed racing against clubs from across the country. It was a glorious weekend at Holywell Bay. Huge thanks to the amazing host club and for the organisation by SLSGB.
Then it was the turn for our Youth squad. Tapping into their determination, teamwork and resilience as the conditions started to resemble more typical August weather on the north Cornish coast, the squad battled hard and made all those training sessions count. The Youth team finished 3rd in the final standings and we couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve achieved this year.
And then it was time for the Nippers. Already Cornish Pool and Surf Champions for 2026, and 2nd place Nipper team after Cardiff, they finished as runners up to the mighty Woolacombe in the surf. The club are celebrating all our youngest athletes from age 8 upto 13 years old who took on some tough conditions with all the positivity, friendship and surf skills that they have developed throughout the season. We are incredibly proud of this group of Nippers, some who took to the start line for the first time to race, faced those waves at Holywell Bay and gave it their absolute best. This concludes the Nipper season, and what a year it’s been!
