For some competitors it was their first time racing in Stillwater events, this did not deter the club and brought back plenty of medals. Open member Dave Bartlett new to Surf Life Saving this year, but a very experienced swimmer came home with a gold in the 100m Medley Rescue and silver in the 200m Obstacle. Portreath masters relay team was on top over the weekend claiming 2 gold’s and 1 silver. With good team spirit and a lot of encouragement form each other the Open team claimed overall 4th place in their aggregate and Masters were 2nd Overall in their point score. Saunton Sands from North Devon were overall winners in both the Open & Masters.
The club is sending a team to Rescue 2008 World Championships Germany in July, and are looking for sponsors to help with team clothing and the transport of equipment. All enquires please contact Emma Phillips competition secretary 01209 844663 emma@portreathslsc.org.uk
