Nippers

The youngest surf lifesavers... known as ‘Nippers’ they make up nearly half our membership. Age between 7 – 12 years these members learn all there is to know about staying safe at the beach. They are trained in surf safety and awareness, including how to identify rips, surf skills, such as how to catch a wave when swimming… Personal development and leadership skills, including teamwork and improving self confidence.

The Nippers flood the beach with colour and enthusiasm every week during the summer months. Leaning new skills on boards & swimming in the surf, plus beach sprint and flags. Everyone is encouraged to compete to improve new learned skills, develop a sense of pride, responsibility and purpose and form lasting friendships in a positive and healthy environment.
