Portreath Surf Life Saving Club membership includes Nippers from the age of 7 years to the oldest Masters that an age we shouldn't repeat. The club still operates completely on a voluntary basis and provides a second to none youth development education program that has a snowballed success, with approximately 150 of its members under the age of 19 from the local community.

Even in the winter the club operates different training sessions every week, many of them swimming. The summer program includes a training activity every day that caters for everyone, young and old, novice and champion. Our success has been at grass roots over many years and has payed back in its overwhelming success in recent years.

Portreath are the present National & European champions of the ocean, the clubs finest moment yet. The total haul of medals at the European championsships exceeded all expectations with 9 gold, 6 Silver & 4 bronze. This year some members were also selected for national and county teams; representing the Great Britain team were 6 senior and 4 youth Portreath members.

Historically Portreath SLSC has patrolled the beaches providing a safe haven and still patrol assisting the professional service to this day without a single fatality while on duty.
Patrol members include qualified lifeguards, instructors, examiners and power craft coxswain or crew persons.
